As the website demonstrates, there is so much more to financial literacy than creating a budget, balancing a checkbook, managing a credit card, or calculating the cost of credit. It is a knowledge base that integrates content and principles from many disciplines. It is a state-of-mind that fosters the use of a decision making model that reduces the chance of financial difficulties and increases wealth accumulation no matter what one’s goals might be. It is a blending of specific personal goals with the realization that financial matters are part of everyone’s life and we are all in this together. It is an acceptance and an understanding of the joys of living a life where financial freedom is present. This is not to say, however, that acquiring and using the basic tools or skills found in any area of study aren’t important-they are. Many times, making good choices regarding financial matters will require pen to paper or fingers to the technology device to acquire information necessary to select the best course of action. Fortunately, these tools are identified and readily available.
